Creating a Geospatial and Visual Information Ontology for Analysts
نویسندگان
چکیده
An ontology is a main component of an evolving knowledge base that caters to multiple clients. Consider a scenario where an automated procedure (a computer vision algorithm) used in an analyst tool detects different kinds of “roads” in images, and features in the ontology are used to distinguish a “paved” road from a “dirt road”. In another scenario, the ontology enables reasoning about “locations”, supporting analysts' geospatial information processing tasks. In this paper, we describe the creation of a multiuse geospatial and visual information ontology, GVIO, building on and integrating with the lexical database, WordNet. To ensure that GVIO can interoperate with other ontologies in useful ways, we inherit as much of the WordNet structure and content as is relevant for the domain of aerial surveillance and link in new content/structure as necessary.

INSPECT : a dynamic visual query system for geospatial information exploration
This paper presents a visual information exploration tool called INSPECT. INSPECT provides geospatial information analysts with an effective way to visually filter multidimensional data and explore the underlying information contained within it. In geospatial intelligence information analyses, it is necessary to query, visualize and understand the data combined with location information. These ...
متن کاملCreating a Navigation Ontology
An effort to prepare an ontology for geospatial information is described. This effort concentrates in the first instance on marine navigational information. This document discusses issues relating to ontology management expected to be encountered during this just-commenced project and our planned approach to dealing with these issues.
متن کاملGeoJabber: Finding Significant Analytic Events in Collaborative Visual Analysis Sessions
The integration of a peer-to-peer instant messaging system into visual analytic software allows automatic extraction of significant analytic events, such as inference drawing, causality determination, or hypothesis generation, during the course of an analysis. It does so by examining the textual communications between collaborators and marking those analytic events which are determined to be si...
متن کاملComparison of the “Filled” Space of Iranian Painting with the “Empty” Space of The Far East Painting
Almost a particular insight is effective on the artist’s approach in creating quality of space in his painting. In fact, the general atmosphere in any painting is a reporter of artist’s thought and insight. By examining the foundational of ontology in their approach we have found some similarities and differences between the Iranian painting and the Far East painting. The purpose of this study ...
متن کاملRecommender Systems for Intelligence Analysts
Homeland security intelligence analysts need help finding relevant information quickly in a rapidly increasing volume of incoming raw data. Many different AI techniques are needed to handle this deluge of data. This paper describes initial investigations in the application of recommender systems to this problem. It illustrates various recommender systems technologies and suggests scenarios for ...
